It is always best with some materials to hand sand the final finish and micarta is one of them. I hardly ever use it as I despise the smell of it. If slippery is a concern I suggest learning to checker the handle. They have tools that make it fairly easy, Jantz sells some I think.

Now it says Guru and it used to say Master. I think I like Master better, though skilled would be the best description
