Hi Paul, welcome to the Knife Network and thanks for your questions about your Dad's Knife.

I moved you thread over here to the main Randall forum.

I can definitely tell you that the knife is NOT a model #3-7, but IS rather a model #7 "Fisherman- Hunter". Your photo of the back of the Johnson rough-back sheath, stamped 7-4 1/2 confirms this. It looks to me like it was made in the early 70's, but others may correct me.

As to the value in today's market, I hesitate to guess. However, the pitting on the blade and your Dad's initials "scratched" on the butt cap would be negative factors. If his name had been etched on the blade by the Randall shop it would normally not hurt the value.

The knife is certainly a credible example of RMK history. Perhaps you may want to keep it.
