You made me curious so I did a web search...
It seems they were considering blue woodland pattern and fairly standard BDU cuts as well. They also fit tested Army style round caps. I guess this is what they settled on ehh?
I also saw that they were changing the service uniform. They were fit testing a Marine corps style khaki shirt with navy blue pants and two colors of belt. That was up against a grey shirt of the same cut. On this outfit, they were also considering loosing the rank/rating patch on the arm in favor of collar pins for the same function. Which of these did they decide on?
I also see that they are going retro with a khaki 'dress' uniform for officers similar if not identical to what was worn in WWII. They even wear the rank boards on the shoulder of the jacket rather than the stripes on the bottom of the sleeve--pretty cool really.
Must be an exiting time to be a sailor!
