Latest Finished blades

Keep meaning to actually show these off. The first is a skinner blade done in 1095 thats been a work in progress for months now. I profiled and heat treated the blade back in the summer, did the bevels and final polish in the fall, then finally finished everything up here in the winter:

1095 High carbon blade with a satin hand-rubbed finish, and the handle scales are some Madagascar Rosewood a friend sent me a while back. Theres also a leather sheath to go with it.

The second one i finished up recently is a japanese style petty knife thats been in progress for almost as long:

This one was done in AEB-L steel, which was actually the reason it tool so long. As it turns out, my heat treatment furnace wasnt up to snuff, and i couldnt get it working at the temperatures required to treat the stainless. Ended up having to send it out. Luckily everything was smooth sailing after that.

Anyway, the second one was AEB-L with the blade brought to a satin finish, and the handle scales are African Blackwood. Turned out a really lovely knife, and very nimble too.
