Dave, lots of YouTube's out there with sheath making. This one I found particularly informative.

Now he makes them a little different using a "dangler" to hang the sheath from, rather than a belt loop, but his sheaths are beautiful and the workmanship is great. You can adapt your sheath as you wish but I found Sandy's two videos informative and most especially helpful in getting straight the order of work, step by step.

The order you do things in is kind of critical. For instance, I once glued on the belt loop. Then I glued in the welt and folded and glued the sheath closed. Very nice, flawless finish, looking great....
Then I realized I had not yet stitched the belt loop to the sheath pouch. DOH! You can't run a harness needle inside a closed sheath. The belt loop has to be stitched on before folding the sheath and gluing. I've actually written down, step by step. After several dozen and a few failures thrown in I think I have my basic leather sheath design and steps, down pat. Still have to pay attention however.

Anyway. Hope this helps.
