It's leather indeed. Actually pretty heavy leather (9 oz) wet-formed around a black kydex insert. I go back-packing quite a bit and seem to get rained on more often than not. It's nice to have the kydex liner to at least keep the moisture from building up right there pressed against the O1 blade. The liner can also be removed for cleaning, which I've found useful after field dressing game and getting blood/hair pushed down in the sheath.

I looked through my drill drawer and found 14 1/8" bits and 0 #30's. Having that extra bit of clearance would have been the way to go. I drilled the 12 pin holes prior to HT and clamped/drilled the scales before gluing everything up. I did round/sharpen the end of each brass pin to aid in guiding them through. Got pretty hairy there towards the last pins fighting against the expoxy set-up time! I believe I'll find some more #30 bits before I attempt that again.
