This is probably the sixth knife I've done scales on and I'm used to a far larger surface that can disperse a lot more heat. You have a very valid point. And I'll take the call on the name for it gracefully. Valid points. The handle was done on a drum sander. Forgot to mention that part. The drum sander is more familiar and gives me 3 different grits to swap through before sanding by hand for the last bit.
