Guys-Thanks for the responses and ideas.

I hadn't even thought of scrap yards but that's okay. I bought a bundle of aluminum scrap off of eBay for $75 with free shipping. The bundle has 6 pieces total but 2 of them are 1"x8"x14" which will work great for me. The other 4 pieces aren't quite as big but are still good sizes for quench plates so I'll probably keep 2 pieces as a backup and sell the other 2 pieces or... I may sell all 4 pieces.

PS-the next time I go looking for something like this I'll start with the scrap yard. I made the mistake of calling some recycling companies instead of scrap yards and discovered real quick that they don't sell to the public.
