Want to know a trick on satin finishing?
I stopped doing a 600 grit satin finish for the 400 grit by using a 25% diamond compound on a leather covered stick. Take it to 400 using wet/dry sandpaper and then it looks like 800 grit after about 2 minutes of stroking it across the diamond. I don't really know why it's different than the sand paper, but it is. Also if you missed any previous larger grit scratches it will show them up, but will take them out too.
Your knife looks very nice Michael. I like the all around versatility of your classic drop point and calling it "utility" is appropriate. The carbon fiber handle is very good looking and well done, nothing to dislike at all.
