I guess it depends on how sloppy you plan to be with your flux. Generally, the flux falls on the floor - you can get it on the walls but it takes some effort. The Alumina is flux protection so it mostly needs to be on the floor. It might stick to the floor or it might not but if you drag anything heavy across it when the forge is hot you're likely to scrape if off the floor anyway. Just do your best and try it. No matter what you do or how you do it there's almost no chance at all that you'll only do it once ...
