"Oh Happy Day"
We settled back into the routine, seemed strange to have hot water and a comfortable bed-we'd
been sleeping on wwII army cots in Honduras.Three or four days went by, then at the morning formation our btry CO, Capt.Tommy C. Hawk called the names of those who had been on the DRT.(disaster relief team) We stepped forward and were presented with letters of commendation
fr.om the battalion commander, Col. Martin, And Capt.Hawk.
The part I focused on was a 3day pass stapled to our letters, and a per diem pay voucher
for 21 days at $8.00 a day...$168.00! that was more than two months pay!
