It will be the last knives I will be making for a while because I'm off to London to work at the Olympics for three months. I was hired as exec chef for the main athlete's village. Big challenge, but no knife making :( and I'll miss Jim Clow's hammer in! :( :( I will check in from time to time...

The knives are 440C stainless, cut from 3/16 plate. Hardened to 58 RC, this is my 9-inch pattern. The scales are zebra wood, with mosaic pins in the French blade, brass in the paring knife. Hope you like it. Have a great summer, all!
Cheers,

Just FYI: All the knifemakers' from Sanpete County, Utah that we can locate, have gotten together to donate a knife, each, to the great Sanpete County Fair as a fundraiser. One of the best, if not "The Best" county fair in the state! There are 11 of us, all who will make a hunting knife, of various designs and types of their own choosing, for this project. Our local photographer friend, David Peterson, of Peterson Studios, Manti, UT, will photograph them all for the annual Fair Book; so in early July I'll be able to post that photo. They will be auctioned off at the Fair on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Here is a list of the makers involved, all of whom have grown-up, lived, or are presently living in Sanpete County, Utah.
7. Larry Peterson – Ephraim, Utah

I did an etch with a mild acid.....Bar Keepers Friend.....I wanted an interesting patina and a false hamon.....

This is the first leather work I have ever done.....basic sheath, saddle stitched (crooked), welt and belt loop...left natural and treated with mink oil.....

The next is a friction folder with whitetail antler crown. It was sun bleached white, so I stained it. The blade came from stainless ( I think) blade stock. The throwaway knife was a beat up chefs knife. The tang is hand twisted... I love my oxy/propane torch for small jobs like this. The pin is brass mosaic.....

Better pics of the folder to follow....I know that they are not perfect, but I am making headway......

Misture adequadamente a cola epoxi líquida.

Hi Folks. I am an old f**t newbie. I have been a goldsmith for 30+ years and have just retired. I WANT TO MAKE KNIVES. Not for sale as I have made "stuff" for people long enough...knives will be just for me.

From browsing this fine forum, I see that I am lucky enough to have a lot of equipment that is of cross purposes between jewelry and knife making. Now all I have to do is learn how to use it :).

I hope to learn a LOT and contribute what I can. AND, thanks for having me.
