Hi Bob, I don't know if this will be of any use to you, but here's what I did about forge ventilation. I got a free squirrel cage blower from an old furnace, and another blower at a garage sale. Installed them through the wall of my shop at head height, so they pull air into the shop through the open door, past me, then past the forge, and out through the blowers. Total expense: $15. Total time: 1.5 hours. I haven't built the forge yet, but those blowers very quickly remove paint fumes and fine sawdust that I put into the air in my shop. I got the idea from studying the ASHRAE books and from air flow dynamics books at the University of Washington's Engineering library.
